Cardiff Recovery Centre is open access 365 days a year, 9am–5pm, for in-person and telephone support. Barry Hwb is available on Tuesdays. Check seasonal changes before travelling.

Weekend ReflectionPlanning and reflection

How did the weekend go for you? Isolated and directionless, or packed with activities that support your recovery? Come along to reflect on the weekend and start planning the week ahead.

Women’s GroupPeer-led · women only

A peer-led space where women can discuss recovery issues that matter to them, offer mutual support and connect with like-minded people. Sessions can include guest speakers, activities, outings and TED Talks.

Log-in LoungeOnline and social

Can’t get to the centre? Connect with others online in a relaxed and social way. Have a laugh and a chat, and join activities or quizzes if you feel like it.

Relapse PreventionStructured 12-week programme

A structured programme offering insight, techniques and support for managing recovery, lapse and relapse. It explores the relapse cycle, triggers, urges and cravings, high-risk situations and maintaining recovery in the way that works for you.

Creative CornerRelaxed arts and crafts

Time to unwind and relax while staying connected with others. Join self-directed art and craft activities and choose what you would like to make.

SMARTSelf-Management and Recovery Training

SMART provides practical tools for people seeking positive behaviours and lasting change. Guided by trained facilitators, participants help themselves and one another using cognitive behavioural therapy techniques.

Peer Support GroupConnection and mutual support

Peer-led groups where people connect and discuss recovery. Conversation may explore recovery capital, barriers to support, isolation and themes raised by the group.

PMOIMRPeer Moving On in My Recovery

A 12-week peer-created and peer-led course shaped by peer-support groups across the UK. It explores life issues—including loss, mental health and work-life balance—through a recovery lens. You can join at any point.

Community ActivitiesRelaxed shared activities

A relaxed, peer-led group offering connection through activities such as micro-planting, terrarium-making, themed discussions and wellbeing taster sessions.

Weekend PreparationSupport for the weekend ahead

Support with the challenges a weekend can bring. The group helps people prepare for social pressures, develop a helpful mindset and find a peaceful place to unwind.

Family and Friends GroupFor people worried about someone else

Worrying about someone can feel isolating and make it difficult to look after yourself. Connect with people who understand what it means to worry about someone else’s alcohol or other drug use.

Men’s GroupPeer-led · men only

A peer-led, men-only space to build positive connections and discuss recovery issues that matter. Themes may include men’s wellbeing, relationships, recovery and identity.

Self-help GroupGuided 10-week course

A guided self-help course developed by Recovery Cymru staff and members. It uses practical tools and learning techniques to support recovery and maintain lasting change.

Meet socially and explore what the local area has to offer—from coastal walks and museum trips to discovering new places and meeting new people. Family members and friends are welcome.

Recovery is not nine-to-five. Connect with others during evenings through quizzes, board games, recovery discussions and opportunities to build social networks.
